A design school should have a designed application. Application forms are a great way to make a first impression. When sending out application kits to prospective students, it would be beneficial to send something memorable, so as yours doesn’t get lost in a sea of other applications. My solution was to create an application that was aesthetically pleasing and worthy of a design school. I created an interactive application and gamified the process of submitting an application thereby almost forcing the applicant to take the decision right away and confirm into taking admission which is the ultimate goal of the form. I also reorganized the information to flow more logically and designed a grid system to support the organization of the questions.
Applications have to be one of the most boring things to look at and deal with. SCAD’s admission application is no different. There is no visual system. Elements are thrown onto the page with no thought. The questions don’t flow well, which makes the entire undertaking confusing and difficult.
